Arnulfo Vasquez Martinez  was born November 18, 1919 in Eagle Pass, TX. He died July 18,1941 in Uvalde, TX at the age or 30. He was the second child lost to Catarino Gonzalez and Maria del Refugio M. Martinez.  Arnulfo joined his younger brother Fernando V. Martinez who had died as an infant in 1925.  His life continues in his surviving siblings - Heliodoro "Lio" V. Martinez, Ofelia V. Martinez, Fernando "Fred" V. Martinez, Dora M. Granado, Refugio "Cuca" M. Cunningham, and Victoria "Toya" M. Rodriguez.  His nephews and nieces never had the pleasure of knowing this uncle.

Lio Martinez recalled the day of his brother's death.  Arnulfo was working as a breakman on a train hauling rock from the mines in Blewett.  The train struck a cow and the car tipped and fell on Arnulfo.  He was unconscious and was rushed to a hospital 18 miles away in Uvalde.  At the time Lio was working making deliveries in the company truck.  When he had gone to the store he was told of the accident.  He rushed to the hospital in Uvalde before his brother passed but Arnulfo never regained consciousness.

I will be adding other stories about Arnulfo.  Stories that are remembered by his siblings.  So we can know who he was.

This is one of many pages that will tell the stories of family members who have passed away so that each generation has a personal connection to them.
