LIO'S TIME LINE

1921

Even before his birth the world events that came out of the the first World War were shaping the the battle ground that Lio would later be fighting on to defend the country that would be the home we have today.

Heliodoro V. Martinez was born at 5:30 a.m. on July 1, 1921 in Mverick County to Catarino Gonzalez Martinez (25) and his wife Maria del Refugio Vasquez Martinez (28) at their home at the Lamar Coal Mines Reservation near Eagle Pass, in Maverick County, Texas.  For the farmer and house wife Heliodoro was their second child.

Infromation: Birth Time, Parents' age, occupation, address from birth certificate of H.V. Martinez.

Once the Lamar Mine closed in February 1925, Catarino moved the family to Gallup, NM.  Lio was now 4 years old and the family size was three children as younger sister Ofelia was now born.  Lio's uncle Victor Martinez went with his brother's family to New Mexico.
